What is the difference between Advanced Device Scan and
Low Level Scan?
Question: What is the difference between Advanced Device Scan and
Low Level Scan?
Answer: You need to scan physical devices for missing or damaged
partitions and hard drives. There are two types of devices scanning:
- Advanced Device Scan
- Low Level Scan
These scanning methods use different approach and scrupulosity to
analyze data storage structure and recover damaged parts as more accurate as possible.
Advanced Device Scan reads each track and looks for boot sectors
of deleted/damaged partitions. If found, boot sector is interpreted
as a drive and you can scan it and the look for your files and
folders.
Low Level Scan reads each sector and looks for not only
boot sectors, but also tries to reconstruct drive structure based on
some drive's system structures left on drive's surface. This is very
slow process but usually gives much better results than Advanced
Device Scan (i.e. detects much more partitions).
